Greenfield wildlife control tip of the month:

How to find and remove a dead raccoon

There are times when you may find a raccoon on your property and you decide that laying out some poison to finish it off is the way to get rid of it. This can be a very highly and effective way to rid yourself of this problem.

The problem comes when your effective way to get rid of the raccoon leaves you with a dead raccoon somewhere on your property, or even in your home, and you don’t know where it is. This can leave a dead animal rotting in your home, and the last thing you want is to not know where to find this body. By the time you do you may have a host of other issues and you simply cannot have that.

So how do you go about finding a dead raccoon? If you know that there was one on your property and it has likely died, then there are some things you can do to get rid of it and remove it.

The first thing Greenfield animal control wants to do is to look around the known areas where you have seen or believe that raccoon to have been. If you knew it was in your attic or shed, then this the first place to check. Greenfield wildlife removal will look around your garbage cans, fence line, garden or other areas where a raccoon would likely go to.

Also, look for tracks. Raccoons leave little paw prints in the ground, and you don’t need to be some kind of world tracker to find it. You can see if you look.

Also, you may find that other animals or insects may give the location. A dead raccoon may be just the perfect treat for some other form of life, and so if you see an excessive amount of flies in one area or a bunch of little critters, that may be where your raccoon is.

Once Greenfield animal trapping has trapped the raccoon you need to be very careful. Many raccoons carry diseases, especially in their waste, and these can survive for quite some time. Some parasites last as long as 21 days without the host, so you must be careful. Greenfield exterminator will always wear heavy duty gloves and a mask to cover their nose and mouth. You also want to cover as much of your skin as possible to keep yourself as safe as possible.

To dispose of the animal, double bag it in a garbage bag. Take it to a dump if possible or call Greenfield pest control as soon as you can.
