Wauwatosa wildlife control tip of the month:
How to keep squirrels away from your property
If you have squirrels prancing around your property, you may also have problems with this critters digging in your garden, working their way into your garden, or simply making a mess wherever they go. They can be a real handful for sure, and because you usually see so many of them around, they can be hard to get rid of. Wauwatosa exterminators scaring off one or two is not going to do much when there are 10 or 20 more.
You want these critters off of your property but have no idea on how to do so. Here are some tips from Wauwatosa animal control to help you in your battle.
Let’s be honest up front. The use of products, like commercial repellants, is only going to have a very limited effectiveness, if it has that at all. Wauwatosa wildlife removal could line the property with the repellant, but if there are trees or power lines around, the squirrel is simply going to crawl on these objects onto your property, bypassing your repellant line all together. This will mean you simply wasted your money.
No, your moves have to be ones that look to eliminate the reason for being on your property in the first place. What this means is that you actually have to let them on to see that there is no reason to be there, before they will go away.
The first way to do this is to take away sources of food and shelter. These are the two primary reasons that a squirrel goes anywhere. If you remove items like bird feeders, securely close your garbage can lids, enclose your garden well, and remove nut and seed trees, you may instantly remove the reasons that these animals are on your property. If there is nothing to eat, then there is no reason to make your home a stop on their food hunting route.
This is true of places to live as well. Squirrels may find your attic, shed or the hollowed portion of a tree to be the ideal home. You need to make sure there is no entry to your home or shed, and remove areas that may be inviting places to live.
Another suggestion that can work quite effectively is a dog. Dogs are relentless chasers of squirrels, and if you have a fairly big dog they are likely to chase away any squirrel that may come onto you property. Besides Wauwatosa animal trapping, this may be the most effective tool of them all.
